Optics11 is proud to release a new generation of extremely sensitive nanoindentation probes. If you are interested in measuring the elasticity of single cells or extremely soft hydrogels, with values down to 10 Pa, these probes will prove essential. The new probes are manufactured with MEMS technology on a silicon wafer, resulting in extremely thin but robust cantilevers that can achieve stiffnesses as low as 0.005 N/m.
The Piuma Nanoindenter and Piuma Chiaro, a family of easy-to-use nanoindenters for soft materials, use single-piece cantilever probes and optical fiber interferometry to measure the elasticity of soft materials, even when the sample is immersed in liquid. The probes can be clicked in and exchanged easily, requiring no further alignment. The new MEMS probes are especially suitable for single cells, thin films, micro-tissues, spheroids and extremely soft hydrogels.
If you are interested in the Piuma Nanoindenter or the Piuma Chiaro, or if you are a Piuma user and you are interested in applying our new probes, please contact us.
Coming soon: indentation sphere diameters of 5 µm!
